Sports Interaction Is NLL’s Official Partner in Canada Before Ontario Sports Betting Apps Launch
By Mark Keast

A launch date for Ontario sports betting apps is still unknown, but that isn’t stopping companies from working to gain an edge in the province.

Private operators are diving deep to build Ontario sports betting relationships and sponsorships. Lacrosse is the national summer sport of Canada, and with sports like curling, grassroots golf and the CFL already spoken for, the partnership between Sports Interaction and the National Lacrosse League is no surprise. Sports Interaction is now the official sports betting partner of the NLL in Canada.

The NLL is the largest pro lacrosse property in the world, and is broadcast throughout Canada on TSN. The league has 15 franchises across the U.S. and Canada, including the Toronto Rock and Buffalo Bandits.

“We have been developing the NLL Sports Betting platform as a new line of business throughout the last 20 months and betting partners are a key part of the platform,” NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz said in a statement. “We are excited and honored to bring back a renewed relationship with Sports Interaction that will take our collective marketing efforts to a new level and grow our respective businesses through an engagement platform for our fans as our Official Canadian Sports Betting Partner.

“We know this partnership will continue to grow our engagement with casual and diehard fans of the NLL, as well as attract new fans who enjoy and have become fans of the high voltage action and fast pace of the NLL game.”

Waiting for Ontario to Launch

It’s expected the launch of the full Ontario sports betting market will be after the Super Bowl. The OLG’s PROLINE+ is currently the only legal option for Ontario bettors.

Sports Interaction Ontario is an egaming site that offers sports betting, casino games and poker to players in Canada. They are operated by Mohawk Online, wholly owned by the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke.

Sports Interaction will be featured on TSN league broadcasts through the regular season, as well as have exposure in arenas for NLL games in Canada. The partnership will be supported on all NLL social channels.

“Lacrosse is part of our heritage and a sport very close to our hearts. For centuries, Mohawks have bet on lacrosse games and we are proud to partner with the NLL and its fans because they share our passion and epitomize everything that is great about the game,” Dean Montour, CEO of Mohawk Online, operators of www.sportsinteraction.com, said in the release.
