By Mark Keast

Morgan Stanley on Tuesday provided an updated Ontario sports betting app download analysis, based on Sensor Tower data, through the end of April.

According to the analysis, theScore Bet led downloads through April 30 at 31% share, followed by legacy operator (open pre-regulations) bet365 at 26%. FanDuel is at 16%, BetMGM at 13%, Betway at 4%, PointsBet at 4%, BetRivers at 3% and Caesars/888/LeoVegas at 1% each.

The progression during the first month of legal Ontario sports betting is telling.

Penn National Gaming’s theScore Bet’s download number peaked on April 4, the day the market opened, at 65%, but slid to a 17/18% share the last few days of April.

BetMGM’s share increased over the month, starting at 2% while generating 25% the last three days of April. Bet365’s share increased from 14% on April 4 to consistently hitting 25-30% share, according to the report.

FanDuel Sportsbook Ontario’s share has been consistent since launch, starting at 14% and hovering between 12-25% since. PointsBet has also been able to move up, from 1-2% in early April to 5% over the past few days.

The market is still waiting on DraftKings Sportsbook Ontario and BetRegal to enter.

Kambi Group to Support Fallsview Sportsbook

Kambi Group, which provides sports betting services to licensed gaming operators, on Tuesday announced it has signed a deal with Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment to provide its online mobile sportsbook to the operator’s Fallsview Casino brand.

The multi-year deal will see MGE use Kambi's technology and mobile sports betting offering, which includes its ice hockey product and Bet Builder capability, for its PlayFallsview online mobile sportsbook brand.

Fallsview Casino is the largest gaming resort facility in Canada. Kambi’s customers include Kindred Group, LeoVegas, Penn National Gaming and Rush Street Interactive.

BetRegal Expands Reach into Golf

Already a sports betting partner of the PGA of Canada, BetRegal has expanded that relationship with the announcement Tuesday that it is the Official Betting Partner of the RBC PGA Scramble, a growing team golf event.

BetRegal will activate across the 150+ local qualifiers throughout Canada and at the National Final set for Oct. 1-5 at Cabot Cape Breton.

It’s all part of the company’s strategy to connect with grassroots golfers across the country. BetRegal is also the title sponsor of the BetRegal PGA Championship of Canada, set for this year at Beacon Hall Golf Club, June 20-24.
