The longest tenured Major League franchise in Canada has many things going for it. Toronto FC’s BMO Field is downtown at the growing Exhibition Place along Lake Ontario, and the team’s trophy case includes an MLS Cup in 2017 and eight Canadian championships.

But how safe is the stadium experience in Toronto compared to every other city in MLS? With safety in mind, OntarioBets.com – your source for Ontario sports betting apps reviews – created a ranking system to find the league’s safest stadiums for spectators. Our list factors in crime rating, total crime index, fanbase ranking and crime grade in each city. All metrics are based on the exact city and zip code of each team’s stadium or arena.

A note about our methodology: Neighborhoodscout.com was used to find the violent crime and total crime index; PesStatsDatabase.com was used to find the fan behavior ranking; CrimeGrade.org was used to find the crime grades. The lower the score, the safer a stadium is deemed to be.

Where Toronto Ranks For Stadium Safety

Toronto FC’s BMO Field is No. 15 spot on the safest MLS stadiums list, smack dab in the middle of the 29-team league. BMO Field is immediately behind Austin FC, which had a score of 81.62 to Toronto’s 83.61. No. 13 Atlanta United FC finished with a score of 80.91.

The safest MLS ground was Sporting Kansas City’s Children’s Mercy Park, which had a score of 15.41 in our calculations. As of May 7, Sporting KC has odds between +4000 and +7500 at various Ontario sportsbooks to win MLS Cup this season. The next two stadiums on our safest list were New England Revolution’s Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts (34.36) and Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, the home of FC Dallas (40.39).

The teams rounding out the top 10 are the Los Angeles Galaxy (Dignity Health Sports Park, 56.74 points), CF Montreal (Saputo Stadium, 59.23), Real Salt Lake (America First Field, 61.39), New York Red Bulls (Red Bull Arena, 63.83), Los Angeles FC (BMO Stadium, 67.91), San Jose (PayPal Park, 70.82) and Charlotte FC (Bank of America Stadium, 73.95).

Toronto FC has long MLS Cup odds in 2024, with Caesars Ontario Sportsbook listing the club at +5000 – that ranks tied for 17th with NYCFC. But at least Ontario MLS fans can hang their collective caps on the safety that comes with attending matches at BMO Field.
