Canada’s Most Boring Cities: Multiple Ontario Municipalities Make List

By Jim Tomlin
Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

If you live in Toronto, there is no end to available diversions. You have legal, regulated Ontario online casinos and sportsbooks, of course, but there is so much more: The Ontario Science Centre, the CN Tower, the Royal Ontario Museum, St. Lawrence Market, Toronto Zoo, Art Gallery of Ontario, Casa Loma, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada and so on.

Sports fans can visit the Rogers Centre, home of Major League Baseball’s Toronto Blue Jays. Or they can go to BMO Field for Toronto FC of Major League Soccer. And don’t forget another downtown Toronto sporting destination, Scotiabank Arena, home of the playoff-bound Maple Leafs and the not playoff-bound Raptors (see our Toronto Maple Leafs Stanley Cup odds).

But if you’re in some of the municipalities surrounding Toronto? Apparently the most fun thing you can do is … plan a trip to Toronto.

OntarioBets.com embarked on a mission to find the most boring Canadian cities based on survey data answered via Reddit.com’s /AskACanadian subreddit. We asked the subreddit: “What is the most boring Canadian city?” and let voters decide among the top 20 largest Canadian municipalities, according to population size. OntarioBets brings you cultural and human interest stories such as this one, in addition to providing coverage of Ontario betting sites.

Boring Cities Include Many In Ontario

Our respondents seem to think there is not a ton to do in several Ontario municipalities except wait a warm summer. While you’re waiting, check out OntarioBets.com for Toronto Blue Jays playoff odds during MLB season.

In all, seven of the 10 cities on our list are in Ontario, when respondents were asked to choose among the 20 most populous cities in Canada in selecting their candidates for Dullsville.

Mississauga, Ontario, tops our list, with 17 votes (15% of the total). The city is not far from either Toronto or Hamilton, but what Mississauga mostly has in abundance is shopping malls.

Other Ontario locales in the top 10 include Brampton (13 votes), Markham (10), Vaughan (9), Kitchener (8), Ottawa (7) and London (6).

At least those places have legal, regulated Ontario casino apps to serve as a distraction.

Second and Third Cities Are Outside Ontario

Surrey, British Columbia ranks second on our list of middling metropolises. Like much of the southern part of the province, it is blessed with temperate weather (by Canadian standards) and proximity to both mountains and the Pacific Ocean. But, well, it’s just not Vancouver, is it?

The third-place city on our list of dull big cities, in the opinion of Reddit respondents, is Laval, Quebec. Like Mississauga and Surrey, the place is vastly overshadowed by a far more glamorous nearby city – in this case, Montreal.
