Winnipeg Jets Season Overview
After winning the Presidents’ Trophy as the top team in the Western Conference in 2024–25, the Jets have taken a noticeable step back in 2025–26. Expectations were high, but inconsistencies — especially on offense and depth scoring — have left them far from the dominant team they were last year.
As of late December, Winnipeg sits below .500 (15-17-3, 33 points), placing them near the bottom of the Central Division and well off playoff pace. This marks a dramatic regression compared to their league-best performance last season.
A major storyline this season has been Connor Hellebuyck’s knee injury and absence for a multi-week stretch. His injury forced Eric Comrie into high-leverage starts, and the Jets struggled to maintain consistency in net during that period, contributing to their slide. Hellebuyck has since returned, but the team still works to regain its early-season form.
Heading out of the holiday break, the Jets are attempting to turn the tide and rack up wins to climb back into contention. Hellebuyck’s return bolsters their chances, but the club still needs improved scoring depth and stronger special teams to make a meaningful push.

Winnipeg Jets FAQs
Some of the integral players on the Jets include Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor on offense and Josh Morrissey on defense. Additionally, they are protected in the net by the defending Hart Trophy and Vezina Trophy winner, Connor Hellebuyck. They added Jonathan Toews, who will return to the NHL for the first time in two years.
The Jets currently play in the Central Division, where they are the defending champions after winning the division in the 2024-25 season. They play in the Western Conference, and won the #1 seed but fell to the Dallas Stars in the second round.
The Jets had a fantastic season, winning the President's Trophy award, and claiming the top seed in the Western Conference. They would ultimately fall short of their goal, falling in the second round in a tight showdown with the Dallas Stars.
After winning the top seed in the 2024-25 season, there will be higher expectations in the 2025-26 season. However, the Jets lost Nikolaj Ehlers, so they don't have the same roster they had during the 2024-25 season.
The Jets play all their home games at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Jets have played there since relocating from Atlanta in the 2011-12 season, after being absent from the city for over a decade.
