It has been an eventful offseason to say the least for the New York Giants, whose activity level has been noteworthy for customers at Ontario sportsbooks.

The Giants signed veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston in the offseason, then traded back into the first round of last week’s NFL Draft to take former USC and Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart 25th overall. With backup Tommy DeVito also still in the fold, OntarioBets.com got to thinking about who will take QB1 snaps in The Meadowlands this fall. Here are our odds:

Russell Wilson: Giants’ Clear QB1 Favorite?

We’re picking Wilson, a veteran of 199 NFL games, as our top QB candidate in New Jersey, at least for Week 1. Wilson made his way to the “G-Men” via a one-year, $10.5 million free agent contract.

That contact and on-field experience puts Wilson ahead of Winson and Dart on our QB1 odds board (for now). Wilson checks in at -375 to start in Week 1, compared with +900 odds on Winston and +1500 odds on Dart to do so.

Wilson’s odds would translate to a 78.9% implied probability if it were a prop offered at Ontario sports betting apps.

Last year, Wilson played decently in his lone campaign with the Steelers. Pittsburgh went 6-5 in 11 games will Wilson starting, as he posted an approximate value of 9 for the club, per Pro-Football-Reference.com. He hit 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns (to five interceptions).

Winston had an AV of four in 12 games with the lowly Cleveland Browns in 2024, going 2-5 as the starter after Deshaun Watson’s season-ending injury. Winston threw for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 51.1% completion percentage in his lone season in Cleveland.

Stay tuned to see how this quarterback battle plays out during the offseason and into training camp, and whether any of these QB candidates can make New York Giants playoff chances a realistic wager in the 2025-26 season.

Can Jaxson Dart Steal Giants’ 2025 QB Spot?

Dart completed a career-high 69.3% of his passes for 4,279 yards and 29 touchdowns (to six interceptions) during his third and final season in Oxford. He was named first-team All-SEC for his efforts with the Rebels.

DeVito is 3-5 as a starter with an AV of five, tossing eight touchdowns to three interceptions with the Giants since he signed with the club as an undrafted free agent out of Syracuse in 2023.

We won’t know who will take the first-team reps for the Giants until later this summer. For now, we assume it’ll be an open competition among three veterans and a rookie to be the next great signal-caller for the NFC East stalwarts.

Giants Starting Quarterback Q&A

Russell Wilson has the best chance of being the Giants' starting quarterback for 2025, as confirmed by coach Brian Daboll. Rookie first-round draft choice Jaxson Dart and veteran Jameis Winston are projected as backups.

Jaxson Dart, the Giants’ 2025 first-round draft pick (No. 25 overall), serves as a backup quarterback. He’s expected to learn under projected starter Russell Wilson and head coach Brian Daboll, with potential to compete for the starting role in future seasons.

Daniel Jones, the former No. 6 overall pick, was benched in Week 12 of 2024 after a 2-8 start. The team released him shortly after, with Jones’ injury history and inconsistent play as factors. Jones signed with the Vikings near the end of the 2024-25 NFL season but never played for them, then in this offseason he signed a one-year, $14 million deal with the Indianapolis Colts.
