Unfortunately, they have missed the playoffs again. But their future looks bright with a young roster and many high draft picks they obtained via trade.

Looking Ahead

With a lineup of young, budding stars, the Raptors are in a good position to rebuild into a contender quickly. As young as they are now, they are only going to get younger with the three first-round draft picks that they acquired when they traded two-time All-Star Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers in mid-January.

Latest Raptors News and Key Developments

The hiring of new head coach Darko Rajakoviฤ‡ was the biggest news related to the Toronto Raptors until the team traded Siakam.  In return, the Raptors received a haul from the Pacers: Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora and three first-round picks. Also involved in the deal were the New Orleans Pelicans who sent Kira Lewis Jr. to Toronto. Coupled with a previous trade for Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett and a 2024 second-round draft pick, moving Siakam bolsters the Raptors' efforts to continue to get younger.

Key Contributors on the Raptors Roster

Scoring 20.5 points per game so far this season, Pascal Siakam has recorded his lowest points average since the 2018-19 season. However, this should improve as he and key players O.G. Anunoby and Scottie Barnes adjust to their slightly different roles.

Despite playing on the losing team against the Miami Heat on December 6th, Otto Porter Jr.โ€™s return to the fold showed that he could be set for a big role in the Raptors push for the playoffs or the play-in tournament. How Darko Rajakoviฤ‡ manages his rotation to keep him fresh and injury-free will be something that could have an impact on the team's odds this season.

Where Can I Bet on the Raptors?

Toronto Raptors 2023-24 Schedule: Top Games

Picking out the most important games in a season that has already proven to be a transitional one is no easy task. But there are a few games against certain teams that certainly stand out above all others as ones to watch.

  1. Boston Celtics - Jan 15th - 7:30 pm ET - TSN
Favorites to win the NBA title, the Celtics present quite the challenge. If the Raptors can beat them or even hang with them, it might be a sign that they can find their way into the playoffs. Boston already edged them, 108-105, in the in-season tournament in November, so the Raptors will also be looking to exact some revenge. Celtics win, 105-96
  2. Brooklyn Nets - Feb 22nd - 7 pm ET - TSN
It may not be quite the same as the cross-town rivalry between the Nets and the Knicks, but thereโ€™s no doubt that the Nets are the Raptors biggest rivals in the NBA. At 69-56, the Raptors hold the all-time edge as well as the longest winning streak of 12 games.
  3. Atlanta Hawks - Feb 23rd - 6:00 ET - TSN
The Hawks are currently one of the Raptorโ€™s closest rivals in the Eastern Conference standings. While Darko Rajakoviฤ‡ will certainly hope that his team is not relying on a finish in the standings to make it into the play-in tournament, beating the Hawks at this point in the season could have a major impact on the momentum of the team. But can they overcome the fatigue that comes from playing two straight nights?
  4. Miami Heat - Apr 14th - 1 pm ET - TSN
The Raptors will hope to have nailed down their playoff spot long before the last game of the season. If so, this could be an ideal opportunity for Rajakoviฤ‡ to experiment against tough league opposition ahead of the playoffs. On the other hand, it could be the last chance saloon for the team. Whichever way it pans out, this looks set to be a game to watch.
